Fishing
the famous Costelloe salmon river and the even more famous Fermoyle sea trout
lakes means fly only; for one week we have the exclusive rights to fish these
waters. The river, which flows directly into the sea, is divided into 4 beats;
in addition we can fish two sea trout lakes; a maximum of 8 rods are allowed.

You
will stay in a new, beautiful and spacious B&B House, which accommodates up
to 8 people in comfort and is situated
close to the waters. Geraldine, the manager of the house, will make your stay a
memorable one.

The system begins where the Screebe River enters the sea. Following is a beautiful stretch of water up to Glencoe
Butt, then a lake and Derryvoniff Pool, followed by another stretch of river
which goes up to Screebe Lake. At the upper end lies the Salmon Pool and
beautiful little river which leads up to the hatchery and to the next lake with
the famous Lady Pool at its upper end. And finally there is a long stretch of
river which leads up to the spawning grounds. All these waters are situated
close around Screebe House; easy to walk along and easy to fish. Wading is not
necessary and we fish with single handed fly rods only.

In the Screebe system we catch atlantic salmon of
more then 20 pounds; most of the fish however weigh up to 10 pounds, but the
average fish is much heavier than in many other salmon systems of Ireland, in
2002 around 9 pounds. In the same waters you will not only catch sea trout, but
also brown trout with a weight of up to 7 pounds. Screebe has another lake,
which has been stocked with small brown trout for years. Stocks are very good
and to catch a couple of these beauties in a morning or in an afternoon session
is common. The salmon and all the trophy trout you catch are yours; we release
the sea trout.

This historic house, built around
1870 by rich Englishmen, is situated right on the seashore in Kilkerian Bay and
- one hundred years ago - has been the summer residence of the vice-king of
England, Lord Dudley. The house has 9 rooms only, every one of them carefully
renovated up to date and fitted with the finest antique furniture. The number of
staff is higher than the number of guests; you are looked after in a very warm
and personal way. The meals are excellent; Trevor Down has been cooking for us
for the 4th year now. The breakfast- and lunch-buffets offer an
enormous selection of the freshest delicacies and the dinner with several
courses is excellent; even a lobster dinner is part of our standard.

Non fishing partners are very welcome and the ladies will feel
comfortable in our cultured ambience. The cities of Galway, Roundstone, Clifden, Cong
and Westport are close by, so are the
Aran Islands. And there are many
historical and Celtic sites in the area. Within an hours drive, golfer will
find 10 beautiful golf courses, where everyone is allowed to play, even without
a handicap. On request we will organise a golf teacher.

Our salmon fly fishing
weeks are held in a very personal manner. The number of fishing guests in each
week is around 8. With non fishing partners and with Heidi and Hans-Ruedi
Hebeisen there are usually between 12 and 16 people sitting around a big table;
with this number of people the house is full and the good salmon pools are
occupied. During the three weeks we have the exclusive rights to fish the
salmon system. Heidi and HRH will join you for all meals, give advice and will
improve your casting technique on request. They will demonstrate the best
salmon techniques on the different pools and the right behaviour on the water.
Main point: Hunting the fish.
They
are happy to show you everything in Screebe.
